A pretty hotel from the early '80s that's being maintained well, thankfully. (Franchisees in the U.S. have slowly bled out so many other Marriotts, Sheratons and Hiltons of that era; it's a treat to see the Melville Marriott still looks fresh, clean and cared for) Excellent reception staff, typical Marriott rooms but again wonderfully maintained. That's the good stuff. The pool area is really remarkably attractive for an office park/business hotel ... sadly, management years ago followed the industry's lemmings & replaced the hot tub with a planter. 😔 The pool itself could be kept a bit warmer, but it's workable. The key element is that you won't find the rust, peeling paint, cracked & chipped tiles, or rundown pool furniture that's gotten so common at once-proud business hotels around the country. I've gotta think current managers must wonder what the 1980s designers were thinking when they came up with a long, long four-story atrium - the air-handling equipment for this looks enormous & operating costs must be stunning. Good location, plenty of reliable elevators, spacious parking ... overall, the hot tub is the only think that keeps this from deserving 4.5 stars

I drove six hours with the friends and family from the Washington DC area to this hotel. I chose these accommodations as we were playing Bethpage Black Golf Course over the weekend. This was by far one of the most disappointing Marriott stays I have had. The check-in was pleasant and I was happy to see that they had a restaurant; however, the service was nonexistent. A few things: - We had to seat ourselves. - No one was accountable for our table. - We had to go to the bar on several occasions: to get water for the table, to ask for someone to take our order, and get sides that were supposed to come with our meals. - No one checked on us the whole time. - We had to go back to the bar to ask for our receipts; one of which was wrong. - There was also a large party of about 20 that had a corner of the restaurant. This made it very difficult to hear at our table. - There were four unattended young children running around the entire restaurant. It was unacceptable. The food was satisfactory, but I will neither stay nor dine here again. Beware - bring your earplugs as the noise from the reception area carries.

CJ was an excellent waiter, he was courteous and friendly. He listened intently to my request and food needs, he also had various recommendations. Although the restaurant was quite busy, he found the time to support me. Being knowledgeable within your craft is imperative for people to trust your judgement.
